Record Attendance at Calvary Youth Programs

( See pictures below)

Calvary Church, Indian Rocks Beach, is literally “crawling” with young people who are participating in this summer’s youth programs.   From Cooking Camp to Sailing Class, record numbers of area youth are participating with waiting lists for most activities.

This is particularly true when it comes to the parish Sailing Program.  Now in its 8th year, the program had to be extended to two sessions each day in order to accommodate the large numbers who had already signed on by March!   With 57 children in attendance, ranging in age from 5 – 16, it just continues to get better each year.

The program is made possible through the full support of Calvary Church in cooperation with local business and civic organizations who donated boats and equipment.  Instructors are all adult volunteers from Calvary and firefighter from Pinellas Suncoast Fire and Rescue.  For the first time, older members of Calvary’s youth group are serving as “youth mentors” and junior instructors.

While sailing is the subject,  the goal is even greater:  to encourage our young people through  hands on experience to more deeply appreciate how it is that through study, practice, perseverance, honesty, compassion, and team work we can accomplish great things and build communities of trust, safety, and happiness where all are welcomed and all are valued and cared for.
