The 2015 St. Michael's Conference was a very powerful display of Anglo-catholic liturgy with all the "smells & bells" that belong to our traditional form of worship. Every day we participated in Mattins, the Holy Eucharist and Evensong, where Mark Dwyer from Church of the Advent in Boston was our attending organist who provided lively instrumentation to enhance our worship. Fr. Jay James (Raleigh, NC), Fr. Milton Cheney (MA) directed and registered the event for 58th annual St. Michaels Conference held in W. Hartford, CT. Eighty conferees from High School to young Adult participated, taking several classes to enrich their faith and identity as those who adhere to the authority of Holy Scripture and the ordinances of the Anglican Book of Common Prayer. Fr. Jon taught two courses: "Song of Songs" and "Faith & Science." Other courses were taught by visiting priests, including "Heaven, Hell & Purgatory," "The Psalter", "Vestments and Sacred Symbols," to name a few. Confessions were mandatory by the end of the week with some conferees making theirs for the first time ever. The conference concluded with a special pageant that reinacted the death of Christ and the apostolic succession which followed, and of course the triumphant protection given by St. Michael the Archangel.
Next year, the conference will be held July 31st-August 6th, 2016.
