Special Presentation – Jo Simpson, Endowment Chairman, presented a progress report on that committee’s work. They remain dedicated to updating as well as purging obsolete files, leaving an audit trail throughout. Plans are to meet with the fund’s Merrill Lynch representative to obtain clarification of guidelines used for investment choices. Fr. Roberts, on behalf of the Vestry, thanked Jo for her dedication to the task before her. She and her committee are doing a great service to the church and its future financial security.
Old Business – Denise Hughes-Conlon made a motion to accept the March 4 Vestry minutes. Renee Lee seconded the motion. Motion was approved.
Financial Reports – February financials were reported:
Activity Statement for February, 2019 –
Revenue $51,644 Expenses$34,411
Activity Statement YTD – Revenue $47,544, Expenses $57,535
Statement of Financial Position – Net Assets $4,819,610 Endowment Fund - $712,000
Year-to-date revenues continue to reflect a loss in the investment account, now standing at $35,000.
Jo Simpson, representing the Finance Committee, brought a few housekeeping issues to the Vestry for thought; such moves will be addressed as needed.
Church marquee signage – Several property concerns were presented; The city has disallowed the use of LED signs on the property, nullifying the agreement made for replacement. For the time being, plans are to do a general cleanup of the one currently in place until such time as another solution is found.
Church signage – The city has approved replacement of four (4) new signs directing traffic to the church. Fr. Roberts described the signs as sturdy, decorative, solar-lit and will be a major improvement to those previously in place. Penny Yanacheck made a motion to purchase these four (4) signs from Extreme Signs at a cost of $3,452. Denise Hughes-Conlon seconded the motion. Motion was approved.
Church donation boxes –The public’s response of donating in exchange for safe beach parking has been tremendous. For that reason, it has been decided not to pursue an agreement with Parkmobile at this time. Three (3) solid steel donation boxes will be installed on the property. The boxes are weather and tamper resistant and should give good service. These will be constructed by John Paul Malicinski, a member of Calvary, and costs involved with be presented for Vestry approval.
Name tags – Outreach presented sample name tags for our approval on style and design. A selection was made and Renee Lee will place the order.
New Business – Penny Yanacheck made a motion to transfer 10% of the Cannistraro estate to Calvary’s Endowment Fund. Sandy Rogers seconded the motion. Motion was approved. $4,770 will be deposited to the fund.
Updates – New sound system/PA equipment – In order to maintain the integrity of the sanctuary’s sound system, the purchase of two (2) new receivers at a cost of approximately $900 each were purchased. Ordered and billed separately,
Vestry approval was unnecessary.
Winter Welcome Social – An evening social, held to recognize new members and winter visitors, was hosted by Outreach. Renee Lee reported a good attendance and thanked the Vestry for its support.
Youth Minister Search – Penny Yanacheck, Christian Education, announced plans to interview an applicant later this week.
Discernment/Mike Alford –

BCFP Van Signage – The van has been detailed and looks terrific. The Vestry agreed it needs to be dedicated to the Glory of God and introduced to the congregation. Robert’s presentation of “The Saving Passion” continues, both in person and on Facebook. He encouraged members to participate as they could.

Fr. Roberts announced the Holy Week schedule. It was the consensus of Vestry members to increase publicity, using every avenue available. Plans are to begin immediately.
